1.Educational Objectives

According to the national development demand, which requires a solid professional foundation, a strong practice ability and moral, intellectual, physical all-round development, the program aims to cultivate students to higher professional and technical personnel, who can engage in scientific research, technology development, engineering design, operational management and teaching, in the sensor and testing technology, intelligent instrument, measurement and control system and other technical fields.

Expected goals of the graduates in this major who certificated in around five years:

Target 1. Students will be proficient in measuring information acquisition and preprocessing, analysis and design of the control system and related hardware and software development skills. Be able to design system of measuring and control technology and instrument. They will be capable of putting forward instrument system solutions and application system according to the requirements of the project.

Target 2. Students can be used as a member or leader and undertake a certain professional field of work independently in a team composed of different roles.

Target 3. Students will have a good accomplishment and moral standards

Target 4. With employment competitiveness in the field of measurement and control technology and instrument or have the ability to enter studying at the graduate level.

Target 5. Students will be capable of expanding their knowledge and ability through the other way.

Target 6. Students will have willingness and ability to serve the society.

2.Expected Attributes of Graduates

Students in this major are required to learn natural science, engineering foundation and professional knowledge; problem solving ability and innovative consciousness through the practice; stress on the humanities quality accomplishment and comprehensive development of knowledge, ability and quality. This professional training of students' knowledge, ability and quality requirements with 12.

1)Engineering knowledge: Students will possess the solid knowledge of math and natural science, basic knowledge of engineering, measurement and control technology and instrument specialty knowledge and economic and management knowledge, furthermore, solve the problem with integrated application of such knowledge.

2)The problem analysis: Students will master bibliographic retrieval, data search and the basic method of using the modern information technology to obtain relevant information, especially understand the related devices, products, systems and technology progress and the frontier through the electronic network, periodical information, etc. And provide recognition, expression, analysis based on the literature of specific engineering technical problem of measure and control technology and instrument, making full use of the basic principle of mathematics, natural science and engineering science, to reach an effective conclusion.

3)Design/exploit solutions: Students will master the basic method of innovation, own the innovative attitude and awareness and be able to design to meet the specific needs of the system, unit (parts), or process and put forward the solution of engineering problems, with the integrated use of theory and technology and considering the social, health, safety, legal, cultural, ethical and environmental factors.

4)Research: Students will cultivate the scientific thinking to gain the capacity of researching complex engineering problems by using the scientific method, including design experiments, analyze and interpret data, and through the comprehensive information to get the reasonable and effective conclusions.

5)Using modern tools: Students will keep on learning new knowledge, new technologies and new skills. Keep tracking and understanding of this major`s the current situation of the development of frontier and trend. Appropriate technology, resources and modern engineering tools and information technology tools could be developed, selected and used to solve complex engineering problems. Be able to provide reasonable projections for engineering problems and accurate simulations, and to understand its limitations, with foresight consciousness of development of the industry, the project planning.

6)Engineering and Society: Students will understand guidelines, policies and law about production, design, research and development, environmental protection and sustainable development of career and industry related to this major. Have a correct understanding and evaluation of the influence in the society, health, safety, law and culture, which caused by professional engineering practice and the solution to complex engineering problems. Understand the responsibilities.

7)Environment and Sustainable development: Students will understand and evaluate the influence of environment and sustainable development, which caused by professional engineering practice of complex engineering problems

8)Professional norms: Students will have the humanities and social science literacy, social responsibility and engineering ethics, and be able to follow engineering ethics and norms and hold responsibility.

9)Individual and Team: Students will train organization and management ability, expression ability and interpersonal skills in order to play a positive role in team under the background of the multidisciplinary and hold the post of individual and team members as well as the leader of team.

10)Communication: Students will develop effective communication skills, writing reports, presentation speech communication skills for effective communication and exchanges with industry peers and the social public for complex engineering problems. Have a certain international vision and can do communication and exchanges, competition and cooperation in a cross-cultural context.

11)PM(project management): Students will understand and grasp the method of project management theory and economic decision-making and apply in multidisciplinary environment.

12)Lifelong learning: Students will have the right understanding of autonomous learning and life-long learning and have the ability to constantly learn and adapt to the development.

3.Specialization and Related Majors

 1)The main discipline: Instrument Science and Technology.

The discipline of Instrument Science and Technology is an inter-discipline which integrating multiple ones. The main task is to acquire the information, and is closely coupled with the succeeding information transmission, processing and application, which will discuss and focus on the measurement theory, the measurement methods and the integration techniques for the measurement systems.

2)Related discipline: Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information and Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Science and Technique, Control Science and Engineering.
