1. Brief Introduction to Discipline

This   discipline was established in 1960 and began to recruit graduate students in   1961. In 1998, this discipline was approved by the State Council with   doctoral and master's degree granting rights in the first-class discipline of   Instrument Science and Technology. This discipline is a   first-class key discipline in Jiangsu province and also a preponderant discipline   in Jiangsu province. It is one of the key disciplines in the 211   project and 985 revitalization action plan of the Ministry of   Education, and also one of the key disciplines in the Double Tops   construction of Southeast University. This discipline has 4 ministerial or   provincial key laboratories and has participated in the construction of 3   national research platforms.

At present, this discipline has formed a high-level faculty   team, including the academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering and   the winners of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. The   faculty team includes 29 doctor supervisors and 52 master supervisors.

This discipline aims to promote the national defense construction and   economic construction, it has formed the features of military and civilian   integration with great superiority. The annual received fund is over 50   million yuan.

Graduates of this discipline have good   employment prospects and can be engaged in research, development and   management work in the fields of instrumentation, measurement and detection,   automation and robotics, advanced navigation, electronic information,   computer application, intelligent city, intelligent medical treatment and   intelligent transportation, etc.

This discipline ranks in the forefront among   domestic similar disciplines in terms of the academic level, the scientific   research achievements and the talent cultivation. In 2016 National   First-class Discipline Evaluation of Instrument Science and Technology,   this discipline was selected as A- discipline and tied for fourth   in China.
