Dr. Xiaoguo Zhang, male, born in Yixing, Jiangsu, China, on June 24, 1973, now is with the School of Instrument Science and Engineering, Southeast University, as an associate professor and master graduate supervisor. He is also the deputy director of the Key Laboratory of Land Survey and Monitoring Technology of the Ministry of Land and Resources (MLR), and the academy leader of the Image and Video Processing Research (IVPR) Group in the lab. He received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in the CAD and GPS/DR/MM integrated vehicle navigation field from Southeast University, Nanjing, China, in 1998 and 2001, respectively. From 2002 to 2003, he was with the Maritime Research Center, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, where his research was focused on maritime GIS. In April 2003, he joined Motorola China as a senior software engineer, and later as a project leader and senior staff software engineer respectively, and his R&D works were mainly on embedded Java virtual machine development. His current research fields are related to Image and Video Processing, GIS, and 3S-integration. He is now the principle investigator of one National Key Technologies R&D Program of China and one National Special Fund for Research in the Public Interest Program. He is the first author of about 30 papers and the first inventor of 2 granted Chinese patents.
