Dr. Ruqiang Yan joined the School of Instrument Science and Engineering at the Southeast University, China as a Full Professor in October 2009.  Previously, he was a Guest Researcher with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Gaithersburg, MD, USA, from 2006 to 2008, and a Senior Research Scientist with the University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT, USA. He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2007, and his M.S. degree from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2002. His research expertise and interests are in the areas of dynamic system modeling, multi-domain signal processing, non-linear time series analysis, damage detection & structural health monitoring, and energy-efficient sensor networks for collaborative information acquisition. He holds four invention patents, including one united states patent, and is co-author of the book “Wavelets: Theory and Applications for Manufacturing”. He is currently an associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, and co-chair of the Technical Committee (TC-7) on Signals and Systems in Measurement of the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society. He received the New Century Excellent Talents in University Award from the Ministry of Education, China, in 2009. He is a member of ASME and senior member of IEEE.
